Core Session at NEMC features a wide range of musical options for all campers!
Our 1:4 faculty-to-student ratio provides an environment rich in sharing and learning. Students and their teachers at home often remark that “one summer of music at NEMC is like a year at home”!
Instrumentalists and vocalists at New England Music Camp spend their mornings in four one-hour periods of music taught by a prestigious faculty of professional performers and educators from universities, colleges, and highly recognized public and private school music programs.
COURSE SELECTION
Design your own schedule to fit your interests and needs! Choose from a wide selection of classes and ensembles. Students are eligible to participate in at least one large ensemble including Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and Choir. In addition, many students participate in small chamber ensembles, studio classes, and music theory. Working closely with Registrar, Bethany Niedbala, students create a personalized morning schedule that allows for musical growth during the four-week session.
PERFORMING OPPORTUNITIES
Honor Recitals:
Each week, select students have the opportunity to audition to perform in the weekly Honor Recital held in Alumni Hall. Students who wish to audition should come to camp with a polished and performance ready solo piece. All performances are free and open to the public.
Weekend Concerts:
Large ensembles perform new repertoire each week on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons at the Bowl in the Pines. Concert groups perform on Fridays and Symphony groups perform on Saturdays, with the exception of week 2. Please contact the office for up to date concert information.
Area Recitals:
Area Recitals are held on the last Friday afternoon of the Core session. Select students from each studio are chosen to perform for their peers. Parents who are able to arrive for the weekend are welcome to attend.
Musical Theatre Showcase:
All students, regardless of major, are invited to participate in the Musical Theatre Showcase. This showcase features singing, acting, and dancing in large groups as well as solos and duets. Auditions are held on the first full day of camp, and rehearsals are part of the morning schedule. Performances take place at 7:30pm on a specific date the last week of camp.
